Summer has been full of the usual highlights – travel, sunny days and a heat wave but now I am heading back into the studio.
I recently worked on re-designing my space so I can work on 3 or 4 projects at a time. I have been feeling cramped and unproductive. The down side of spending time on play and discovery is I accumulate a lot of “experiments” that don’t go any further. I filled five garbage bags with junk, half used dried out supplies and studies. I re-purposed and recycled a few things and added a new cork board. The clean and streamlined space feels lighter and more inviting. I am happily settling in to the studio for the second half of my Summer Hours.
As an artist giving myself permission to play is at the heart of my practice.
