I work at being efficient and productive. I use a to-do list and diligently get rid of things that no longer spark joy. But in my studio, I give myself permission to play. I find playing removes the pressure to "create a masterpiece" allowing me to focus on painting in the moment. When I get lost or tired, playing helps me navigate creative block and avoid procrastination. If I feel stuck, playing and experimenting can lead to exciting new ideas. In this blog I will be sharing what's happening with my work and in my studio. And who knows? Maybe I will inspire you to add a little play to your life.
As an artist giving myself permission to play is at the heart of my practice.
